Consecration Sunday

Hello New Nation Faith Family,

On November 20th we will have Consecration Sunday at our church along with a guest preacher, and a luncheon after the 11:00 service for those who attend the 11:00 am service, and a brunch at the 9:00 service for those who attend the 9:00 am service. Consecration Sunday is a program of spiritual development and is not based on the budgetary needs of our church, but on the desire to have each person grow both spiritually and financially as we focus on our stewardship.

Consecration Sunday has three important aspects for us to consider:

1. Consecration Sunday is a spiritual growth program that helps members grow spiritually and the result of spiritual prosperity is always natural and physical prosperity.

"Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be health even as your soul prospers." 3 John 2

Our soul prospers as we practice Biblical stewardship principles and do the following:

A. Make a faith commitment to give a percentage of our income to God’s kingdom.

B. Give as a response to God’s love and as part of our worship.

C. Practice the Five Spiritual Disciplines of prayer, worship, fellowship, education and evangelism.

2. Consecration Sunday encourages percentage giving and we increase the percentage we give based on our acceptance of God’s unconditional love and our need as stewards of God's kingdom to make a faith commitment by giving a percentage of our income to God.

A. Consider what God is calling you to give in thanksgiving for the blessings you have received.

B. At New Nation Church we don’t just give to meet a budget but rather, we give joyfully realizing that God meets all of our needs.

C. We combat the sin of covetousness by accepting the Bible’s standard of the tithe, and encourage people to give proportionately and systematically according to three levels of giving:

a. What can I give?

b. What can I sacrifice?

c. What does God want to do through me?

3. Consecration Sunday will help our God-given vision, to empower Ten Thousand families to Prosper become a reality as we teach families how to prosper by following God’s Plan of Prosperity.

A. God’s plan to prosper us requires that we follow the principles of prosperity and the foundation is teaching families to give.

B. Our vision is bigger than we can handle so God must prosper us so we can empower 10, 000 families to prosper.

C. We invite families to grow in their spiritual faith, as we teach them about the sacred partnership of abundant blessings we have with God.

"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." Genesis 12:2-3.

"So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

" Galatians 3:9

"That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Genesis 3:14

I just want to point out 3 of the 40 blessings God gave to Abraham because of his faithfulness:

I. The first blessing is "a land that I will shew thee" Genesis 12:1

God who desires to lead us by His Spirit to our place of blessings and prosperity.

A. Lead us to our spouse.

B. Lead us to our church.

C. Lead us to our education.

D. Lead us to our job.

E. Lead us in our calling.

God leads us by His precious Holy Spirit "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart ; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

God doesn't bless us just to make us happy; He blesses us to make us a blessing.

II. The second blessing is "I will make you into a great nation." Genesis 12:2

A. God’s family is not just a family but a great nation representing God in the earth.

B. We do not join it. We have to be born into to it by receiving Jesus. Joining church is not enough. You must be born again.

III. The third blessing is "....and I will bless thee." Genesis 12:2

A. God wants to bless us and meet every need in our lives. "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:19

B. He knows what we have need of before we know ourselves.

C. He wants us to have life and more abundantly. "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destory: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

D. He will do more than we can think or ask. "Now unto Him that is able to be exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." Esphesians 3:20

Again, these are just three of many blessings God promised and provided for Abraham and He wants to do the same for you!

Remember, we will have a guest speaker on Sunday November 20, 2011.

Blessings,

Pastor Arthur A. Porter Sr.
